Very fine and welcoming atmosphere, food was excellent and prices are accordingly. Healthy, genuine Italian food. Although the menu is standard and changes periodically, the cook has been willing to accomodate for my food concerns and this has been the best way to enjoy some Italian food, this far away from home. The restaurant also offers imported goods to buy, specialties, olive oil and soft drinks and also prepare gift baskets on request. Highly recommended!
Incredible, authentic Italian food. The atmosphere was comfortable and romantic. The service was elevated, compromising, and friendly. If you want truly authentic Italian food and service from a hardworking, talented family-owned business… go to Gusto! We will definitely be back.
Authentic and exquisite Italian restaurant. Absolutely beautiful ambiance and what makes this place unique is that everything is homemade. Pasta selection is amazing and the fact that they make it fresh is just incredible. Their dessert selection is fantastic! Service is very good and the owners are extremely nice and friendly. Definitely coming back!
Andrea was incredible. We were recommended the restaurant from a friend and it truly lived up/ leveled up our expectations. The service was incredible, the food was amazing, and the atmosphere was also wonderful. I would recommend the experience 1000%!
My partner and I have been to Gusto four or five times since they opened in Fall 2022, and it's now one of our favorite restaurants and date nights. The last couple times we've been there, the staff and owners have recognized us and welcomed us back, which really makes the experience feel even more special. Eating here does feel like an experience. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is intimate and warm, and the service feels personal. The Food: Everything we've had has been delicious, and feels authentic. I've not been to Italy myself, but the food feels like you're transported to another part of the world, enjoying the culture in a way you won't find in many traditional Italian American restaurants. The food itself is beautifully presented, often deceptively simple looking, but delicious and well made. The menu is often refreshed with seasonal options, but some of the best dishes stick around - meaning you have the opportunity to get adventurous with something new to the menu, or order a favorite dish. Either way you won't be disappointed. The meatballs (Polpette di Mamma) are a favorite of ours - so flavorful and incredibly tender, they practically melt in your mouth. The sauce looks like a simple red sauce, but tastes complex and deep. The Mozzarella Affumicata appetizer is also a favorite, and a simple dish elevated by its presentation and excellent quality. Mozzarella made fresh in-house, smoked under a cloche that is brought out and removed at the table. The pleasant smoky smell gently spreads through the dining room but doesn't overstay it's welcome. The cheese itself is not overwhelmingly smokey, but the smoke adds a relatively subtle complexity to the fresh cheese. The platter also comes with several harder cheeses, and is served with walnuts and honey, which are a tasty complement. The Service: As I said, we've only been to Gusto a handful of times, but we've been remembered and feel appreciated as customers. We leave with a smile on our face from a delicious meal, and the owners and staff seem happy to please. The chef/owner Andrea often introduces himself, their restaurant, and their mission to serve excellent and authentic food, and provides information about the dishes and their origins. Overall it's a very warm and personal experience. The Atmosphere: The dining room has an elegant, intimate and romantic vibe. Overall it is dimly lit, but each table has a small lamp that helps keep things well lit enough to read the menu and appreciate the food, without disrupting the atmosphere. It makes for a great date night, but can equally be enjoyed by friends and family. Overall, Gusto is one of our favorite and most special eating experiences. It stands out as a restaurant dedicated to the love of authentic Italian food and culture. The owners' passion is infectious, and comes through in the food - it inspires and invites you to appreciate the food as he does, and in that way it transports you to a meal experience that feels special.
I do not give out many 5-star reviews. Gusto is the only authentic Italian restaurant in the area, where you order a separate pasta course, then your main course. For appetizers we enjoyed the fried polenta and the Spanish Octopus salad. Both were very good. The polenta was fried perfectly, and was light and airy. Flavor was mild. The octopus was not too chewy, and went well with the arugula and dressing. Pasta dishes: “Pasta e Patate, con Provola e Guanciale”. This was small shell pasta with “guanciale, potato cream, and homemade provola.” My first time trying a potato cream sauce, and it was satisfying. More hearty and wholesome than delicious, but a solid choice. I could not really taste the guanciale, and it was not crisp, as I would have preferred. Malloreddus alla Campidanese: “Homemade malloreddusi with sausage ragu and homemade Italian pecorino cheese sauce.” This is the same small shell pasta in our other pasta dish. It was appropriately al dente, and the sausage ragu was very good without being too greasy or salty. I’m not sure I like the metal pasta bowls, as I think it allows the food to cool down too quickly. I do appreciate the grater lids and being able to grate our own cheese. Branzino all'Acqua Pazza: “European sea-bass cooked with neapolitan cherry tomatoes of Piennolo, herbs, fresh garlic and white wine.” This was very good. Very tender, and the sauce was tasty and went well with the fish. No cherry tomatoes visible – it was apparently a cherry tomato sauce. We also enjoyed a side of broccoli rabe that was cooked well and tasted fresh. The bread and olive oil served here are both very good, in contrast to most Italian restaurants in the area. For dessert we had wonderful panna cotta with cherries. BYOB, and be prepared for a leisurely dining experience, as you would in Italy. We were here for two hours. We took our time deciding which courses to order. Service is attentive, friendly, professional.
Fabulous! Wanted to try the tiny clams since they are hard to find, before the menu was changed. (Did not get a picture!) They were the sweetest in the most delicate broth. Chef Andrea was also our server since he gave his staff off for the day after Christmas. We each choose a selection from every course except dessert. For the appetizer I choose the tiny cockles and we also had the smoked at table mozzarella with meats and cheeses. The swordfish pasta and potato and guanciale pasta were excellent. For the meat course, my boyfriend loved the sea bass. I had the braciole with meatballs and sausage. I could only take a bite of my meatball since I was full but that was the most incredible meatball that I ever had in my life. I will be saviouring that later today. A few reviews said that portions were small. We felt portions were perfect. However If I could order a tray of those meatballs... Truly an amazing place in the suburbs.
What an absolute treat this place is! To have a local restaurant that is truly authentic Italian serving the best of the best all imported from Italy/making their own pasta and bread in house is amazing. Chefs kiss! Went for the first time for Valentine’s Day and it was a romantic atmosphere with great service and phenomenal food. All priced fairly too, especially for the quality you get. We will absolutely be back<3
